The college has a company of 110 Cadets attached to the 2nd Haryana Battalion N.C.C., Ambala. We also have a Girls Wing in the N.C.C. consisting of 53 cadets. N.C.C. provides many opportunities to students to participate in various activities like Advanced Leadership Training Camp, Rock Climbing, Regular Army Attachment Camp, Para Camp etc. The B and C certificates awarded to students by N.C.C not only facilitate their admission to various courses, but they can also help them get a direct commission in the Army.

The Education Policy lays much emphasis on the relationship of the youth with the wider community outside the institution. National Service Scheme offers opportunities to the Student-Volunteers to inculcate and imbibe a sense of dignity of labour and service to the community. Its guiding principle is Education through service to humanity. The students are provided an opportunity to attend N.S.S. camps and interact with rural community. This gives them first hand information of how and where the real India lives. N.S.S. covers a vast area of human experience that is vital for the informal education of a young man / woman. The college has been allotted three N.S.S. units (two boys unit and one girls unit) of 100 seats each under National Service Scheme.

Our College has a women cell to promote education of women. Girl students should become members of this cell and under the guidance of their Prof. Incharge, organise programmes which can remove the backwardness of women in society. They should also help women who are victims of cruelty and injustice. The chief aim of this cell is to make girl students self-reliant, confident and bold so that they are able to face adverse circumstances in life courageously.

In the field of sports, we have all the facilities available. We have a sprawling playground where students have the facility to play Hockey, Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Wrestling, Cricket and Athletics. We also have a full size Basketball Court .

Indoor facility is also available for playing Badminton and Table Tennis. In Weight- lifting, Handball and Basketball, a coach for each of these games has been appointed by the Govt. of India. These coaches are available every evening in our campus. Many District and State Level Competitions have also been organised here.

In Weightlifting and Chess especially, our sportsmen have exhibited their class at the University and at the National level. Athletic Meet is held in the College every year in the month of February.

Arya Yuvak Samaj has been established to spread Vedic thoughts. Every important function of the college commences with a Vedic prayer. Students are encouraged and given training to appear in the Dharam Shiksha Examination conducted by the D.A.V. College Managing Committee, New Delhi . Prizes are also awarded to the toppers by the D.A.V. Managing Committee.

The Moral Education Department is another distinction of this college. In this age of the decline of moral and human values, it tries to dispel spiritual darkness and spread faith. This department provides moral education to young students to enable them to face the challenges of life with courage, determination and strong will power.

The college envisages for the students all round development of their personalities. This demands a large exposure outside the classroom. Every student is supposed to join some activity outside his formal course of study. So lectures and debates, singing / acting / painting competitions, tours and pleasure cum adventure trips are organised from time to time. The experienced faculty members and professional trainers try their best to bringout the hidden talents and potential of young students.

The College Magazine GIANSHEEL is published annually. This is a vehicle for the expression of aims, aspirations and creative talents of the students. It gives the students an opportunity for self expression in English, Hindi, Sanskrit and Punjabi.

The Prize Distribution Function is organised in the college annually. Students who stand first in the college or in the University Examination and who win merit positions are awarded prizes. Prizes are also awarded for achievements in Sports, Youth Festival of K.U.K. and Competitions organised by other colleges. Students are given prizes for meritorious performance in N.C.C. and N.S.S.
